No extension fitting is zero-maintenance, and anyone promising that is selling you something. The honest differences between nanobeads, microbeads and tape-ins are how often you return to the salon and what the daily routine asks of you.
Tape-ins come back every six to eight weeks for a move-up, where the wefts are lifted and re-taped higher as your own hair grows. Between visits the rule is simple: keep the bonds clean and dry, use gentle shampoo, and keep conditioner away from the tape line.
Nanobeads return every six to ten weeks. There are more strands per head because each carries less hair, so the fitting appointment is the longest of the three, but the daily care is the same light touch.
Microbeads run the same six to ten week cycle, with more hair per strand and fewer attachments to look after. The aluminium-lined beads hold firm through washing, swimming and the gym.
What all three share: brush from the ends upward, dry the attachment points rather than leaving them damp, and keep to the move-up schedule. The fitting that needs the least maintenance is the one matched properly to your hair in the first place. Read the fittings comparison, or book a consultation.
